INITIAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
Part-time position requiring 4-10 hours a week to coordinate and facilitate planned cancer consultations in Nigeria
The individual will be expected to visit health care facilities designated and directed by the oncologist or his colleagues
Set up appointment and confirm patient readiness and willingness to be seen if diagnosed
Book and confirm appointment dates for consultations
Fully describe the consultation process, fees and requirement to the patient and relatives
Access voice mail, email and/or any other designated electronic media at least once a week and updated the oncologist by either text messaging, email or phone call
Confirm availability of all medical records and help direct patients in obtaining requested tests in preparation for oncology consultation
Facilitate initial discussion by telephone usually; between the oncologist and the referral medical doctor/health care practioner as soon as a patient needing an oncology consultation is identified
Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the oncologist
This position will require travel between 2-3 major cities in Nigeria; by air and with appropriate accommodation arrangements. These will mostly occur while the oncologist is in Nigeria
PRELIMINARY QUALIFICATION
A science degree (BS or higher) from a reputable University within the past 10 years
Prior experience working in a health care setting is recommended but not required
Ability to understand basic medical terminologies
Computer literate – Word, Excel and Email.
Administrative experience is a plus
